Family Contours

This garden was designed to make the most of a compact space while creating a layout that feels open, flowing, and welcoming. The design centres around gentle curves and contoured lines, which guide the eye and soften the transitions between different areas.

A combination of decking and patio surfaces offers practical zones for outdoor dining, play, and relaxation, while their organic shapes ensure the space feels natural rather than rigid. These curved forms also help the garden feel larger and more dynamic, creating interest from every angle.

A key part of the design was the decision to retain and celebrate beautiful specimen trees already established on site. These trees provide instant maturity, seasonal character, and a sense of continuity, while also offering shade and habitat for wildlife.

Carefully selected planting frames the pathways and seating areas, adding texture and colour throughout the year. The overall result is a garden that balances family practicality with a natural, contemporary aesthetic — a space where children can play, adults can unwind, and everyone can connect with nature.
