The Mill, Suffolk
This Design creates a calm, cohesive outdoor space that feels settled and purposeful, designed to sit naturally alongside a rural period property in Suffolk.
Clean architectural lines bring clarity and structure to the layout, guiding movement through the garden while maintaining open views across the lawn and wider landscape. The design carefully balances practicality with a quiet sense of elegance.
Materials and detailing are used to gently bridge the character of the historic house with the more contemporary elements of the site. Clay pavers and sandstone paving add warmth and texture, while sculptural timber features soften functional areas without dominating the space. The result is a garden that feels connected to its setting rather than imposed upon it.
Planting plays a key role in bringing the garden to life. Layered perennials, evergreen structure, and multi-stem specimen trees provide year-round interest, subtle screening, and a strong sense of place. Over time, the garden will continue to mature and deepen in character, becoming an integral part of the Suffolk landscape and the home it surrounds.

Renewed Blooms
PROJECT
OVERVIEW
Bloom 2025 – Award-Winning Circular Economy Garden
At Ireland’s Bloom Festival 2025, I created a show garden backed by the European Commission, celebrating the possibilities of the circular economy.
The design blended reclaimed materials, creative reuse, and climate-resilient planting, proving that sustainability and beauty belong side by side.
The garden received Gold, Best in Category, the Sustainability Award, and the People’s Choice Award, highlighting both its design strength and its powerful message.
The garden’s main aim is to challenge people’s perspectives on materials and inspire them to see the potential for reuse and repurposing. By showcasing the beauty and benefits of reusing discarded items, the garden not only provides a visually stunning backdrop for the plants but also serves as a wildlife habitat and a source of personal satisfaction and fulfilment in giving items a new life.
Beyond aesthetics, the garden demonstrates the principles of a circular economy—where waste is minimised, and materials are continuously repurposed rather than discarded.
KEY FEATURES
01 Reclaimed Railway Track Framework: The garden integrates bold, reclaimed railway tracks as edging and structural elements, paying homage to industrial heritage and resourceful design.
02 Sustainable Seating and Screening: Bespoke benches and screens crafted from reclaimed pallets and scaffold boards serve as a haven for relaxation. Their thoughtful design also incorporates practical water runoff features, blending utility with beauty.
03 Material Diversity and Repurposing: This garden showcases innovative use of materials that might otherwise be discarded, such as old building bricks, tiles, fabrics, and industrial fixings. These elements are thoughtfully integrated into the design, demonstrating their aesthetic and functional potential while reducing waste and promoting sustainability

The Downs
PROJECT
OVERVIEW
Clean and crisp lines dominate the hard landscaping, and a sense of movement is created from the
feature water rills and sunken planting beds which work in parallel with the architecture and yet soften the space from all angles.
KEY FEATURES
01 The large rock water feature which throws back to the client’s Scottish roots.
02 Also, the steel pinned slats which form a sense of boundary without obstructing the view. These will be positioned to mirror the curve of the hills in the distance.
03 A sheltered modern contemporary courtyard surrounded by Sussex style flint walls and finished with clay pavers.
04 A Simple repeated palette of planting with tall upright grasses mix with perennials which punch colour throughout.

Contours
PROJECT
OVERVIEW
Family Contours
This garden was designed to make the most of a compact space while creating a layout that feels open, flowing, and welcoming. The design centres around gentle curves and contoured lines, which guide the eye and soften the transitions between different areas.
A combination of decking and patio surfaces offers practical zones for outdoor dining, play, and relaxation, while their organic shapes ensure the space feels natural rather than rigid. These curved forms also help the garden feel larger and more dynamic, creating interest from every angle.
A key part of the design was the decision to retain and celebrate beautiful specimen trees already established on site. These trees provide instant maturity, seasonal character, and a sense of continuity, while also offering shade and habitat for wildlife.
Carefully selected planting frames the pathways and seating areas, adding texture and colour throughout the year. The overall result is a garden that balances family practicality with a natural, contemporary aesthetic — a space where children can play, adults can unwind, and everyone can connect with nature.
KEY FEATURES
01 Curved feature decking
02 Gravel pathway stepping stones
03 New formal lawn

Ethereal Heights
The Sky-High Playground for Urban Dreamers
PROJECT OVERVIEW
This project began with a challenging site — uneven terrain, drainage problems, and a garden divided by fencing and ditches. My design transformed these obstacles into opportunities.
Key features include:
-A relocated wildlife pond that solves drainage issues while boosting biodiversity.
-A dry riverbed feature that channels water and adds strong visual character.
-Improved pathways linking the house, terrace, garage, and upper garden seamlessly.
-A redesigned driveway with space for six cars, softened with planting to enhance ecology.
-Tiered stone walls, seating platforms, and boulder features that bring texture and natural drama.
-Planting palettes chosen for sun, shade, and marginal areas, ensuring year-round colour and resilience.
The result is a cohesive, multifunctional landscape that blends practicality with beauty — a garden for living, relaxing, and enjoying nature.
