Truro,
Cornwall
This concept design was developed in tandem with a Cornish landscape company as a design vision for Truro Hospital.
Exploring how a shared outdoor space could support both patients and staff away from clinical settings.
It set out a calm, inclusive landscape where people could pause, move and connect through thoughtful spatial design rather than overt gestures.
Project type:
Commercial
Date: Current
Location: Truro, Cornwall
The proposal imagined a soft, immersive garden made up of flowing routes, circular seating moments and lightly structured pergolas.
Curved paths encouraged gentle movement and choice, while layered planting and warm materials created a sense of shelter and ease.
The intention was to blur the line between staff retreat and patient space, allowing both to coexist comfortably within the same landscape.

Overview:
Client Story
Developed collaboratively, the concept tested how a hospital landscape could feel human, relaxed and socially inclusive.
Sculptural seating, framed views and varied levels offered places for quiet reflection or informal conversation, supporting wellbeing through atmosphere and layout.
While the project remained a design study, it became an important exploration into how outdoor spaces at Truro Hospital could help people slow down, connect and breathe a little more easily.
